The short version
Photonics Map is a directory of photonics and laser companies, compiled from public sources. We don’t sell your personal data, we don’t run advertising trackers, and there is no charge for anything on this site.
If your company is listed and you want the entry corrected or removed, we’ll do it — free, no conditions, no sales call. Email joan@ogunforge.com.
Company listings
Company entries are built from publicly available information: industry buyers’ guides, company websites, and business databases. Most of what we hold is company information rather than personal data — a name, a website, a location, a description of what the company makes.
Where a listing identifies an individual, for example a sole trader or a one-person consultancy, that is personal data. We process it on the basis of legitimate interest (GDPR Article 6(1)(f)): maintaining a directory of suppliers is useful to buyers in this industry, the data is already public, and it is business rather than private information.
You can object to that at any time and we will remove the listing. You do not need to give a reason.
Getting a listing corrected or removed
Email joan@ogunforge.com from a company address, or use the claim form. Say what’s wrong or that you want the entry gone. We aim to act within a few days, and always within the 30 days the GDPR allows.
There is no fee, no subscription, and nothing to sign. If anyone contacts you claiming otherwise on our behalf, it isn’t us — please tell us.
If you contact us
The claim and contact forms collect what you type — typically a name, an email address and a message — so we can reply and verify you represent the company. Submissions are handled by our form provider and by email. We keep them while we’re dealing with your request and for a reasonable period afterwards, then delete them.
When you visit
We don’t use advertising or analytics trackers, and we don’t set cookies to follow you around. The site stores one thing in your browser: whether you chose the light or dark theme. That never leaves your device.
Two things do involve other companies. Our host keeps standard server logs, which include IP addresses, for security and reliability. And company logos are fetched from Google’s favicon service, which means Google may see your IP address and the site you’re viewing when a logo loads.
Your rights
If the GDPR or UK GDPR applies to you, you can ask for a copy of what we hold, ask us to correct or delete it, object to our processing, or complain to your data protection authority. Email us and we’ll deal with it.
